Michelle Ralat Brinner is a partner of Older, Lundy & Alvarez and practices in the Marital and Family Law practice group. She also leads the firm’s family law appellate practice.
Michelle has been a member of the Florida Bar since 2002 and is admitted to practice in all state courts. Michelle has also received training in collaborative law, which very few family law attorneys in the Tampa Bay area have completed, and is dedicated to its philosophy of respectfully and amicably resolving dissolution of marriage matters whenever reasonably possible.
After law school, Michelle practiced civil litigation at a statewide insurance defense firm in the casualty department, where she gained valuable litigation and trial experience. Subsequently, Michelle practiced business and commercial litigation and family law at Williams Schifino Mangione & Steady, P.A. In 2008, Michelle decided to focus her practice exclusively on Marital and Family Law, at which time she joined Older, Lundy & Alvarez. Since joining the firm, Michelle started the firm’s family law appellate practice and was named a partner in the firm in early 2010.
Michelle presently serves on the Florida Bar Family Law Section Rules Committee. Michelle is also an active member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, including the Family Law Section of the Hillsborough County Bar Association. Michelle was elected to serve on the Executive Council for the Family Law Section of the Hillsborough County Bar Association for the 2013-2016 term and for the 2016-2019 term. Michelle has also served as an elected member of the board of directors of the Hillsborough County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division and was selected as a participant of the Hillsborough County Bar Association Leadership Institute in 2009. She was also selected as a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association’s Editorial Board in 2011-2012. Michelle is also a member of the Family Law Inn of Court, Tampa Bay Collaborative Divorce Group and the Collaborative Divorce Institute of Tampa Bay.
Michelle earned her B.S. in psychology from the University of Florida with Honors in 1998, and her J.D. degree from the University of Florida with Honors in 2002. During law school, she was chosen as a member of the Justice Campbell Thornal Moot Court Team, where she served on the Executive Committee as Vice Chair. Upon graduation, she was selected by her colleagues and teammates as a member of the Order of the Barristers, a National Moot Court Honor Society.
Michelle is a serious runner and has completed four marathons, including the Boston Marathon in 2011. She lives in Tampa with her husband and three children.
